Hillbilly Tarot by Rev. Dr. David Brown
The Reverend David Brown consider himself as a Hillbilly, meaning he has lived his entire life in the hills of Eastern Tennessee. This tarot uses the symbols of Appalachian mountain culture along with Christian iconography. The artist has designed the 22 trumps cards to tell a story of a hillbilly child from his (or her) physical birth through a life of struggles ultimately leading to rebirth as a spiritual being. The suit signs have been changed to Hubcaps, Knives, Jugs and Guns. I found this pack of cards full of stereotypes but rather funny. Thanks to the power of Hollywood and other American media, not only local people may be attracted by this pack depicting the American rural life.
