“Der Altengurger Prinzenraub” by ASS
|
Kunz von Kaufungen, a German knight, fought for Frederick II, Elector of Saxony against Frederick's brother Duke William III during the Saxon Fratricidal War (1446–1451). Afterwards, he was not repaid for his services and loss of property during the war. On July 7, 1455, Kunz kidnapped Frederick's two sons, Ernest and Albert, from the castle of Altenburg in what was called the Prinzenraub. To commemorate the 555th anniversary of this kidnapping, ASS published a pack of card for skat, illustrated by Bettina Franke and designed by Alexander Penndorf. 20 characters are represented (Ass, Köning, Ober, Unter and 7). The title card has a long text in German about the Sächsischer Prinzenraub zu Altenburg. 3000 packs were printed.
